Not long after that, your order has arrived and you slowly sip your coffee while silently looking around. Izninatilia is still behind the counter. You see her frustratingly trying to wipe out a grease stain from her fingers. The teenagers, a girl and two boys, who are seated near the counter, are chewing gum while waiting for their order to arrive. Each of their eyes are glued to their own mobile phones.
Frustrated with the stubborn grease stain, Izninatilia takes off her small diamond ring from her finger and put it on the counter. She quickly turns around towards the sink to wash and scrub her hands. Your attention is then diverted to your French toast because you are starting to feel hungry.
Suddenly, you hear a squeal coming from the counter. You look up and you see Izninatilia panicking. Her diamond ring is no longer on the counter. You let out a small sigh. You almost wish you had not taken you eyes off the counter. The manager who is also the cook, comes running after he heard Izninatilia's squeal. She explains to him the situation of her missing diamond ring and he lets out a frown. He immediately turns to the three teenagers and asks them what happened. You see all three heads shaking, denying any involvement in the missing ring, while their mouths are still chewing gum.
"Are you sure you placed your ring on the counter?" the manager asks Izninatilia. Due to her forgetful habit, the manager may have thought she has just misplaced an item again. Izninatilia looks confused and embarrassed as she is starting to doubt herself.
Immediately, you rise up from your seat and walk towards the counter. "She did place her ring on the counter," you say while eyeing the three teenagers who are still have their eyes on their own mobile games. "And the ring was gone in a moment after she turned around to wash her fingers. And I believe one of them may have pocketed it." You pointed at the three teenagers who immediately raise their faces. A gum which has been blown by one of the boys pops while he stares intensely at you.
The teenagers vehemently deny the theft and threaten a lawsuit for being falsely accused. The manager quickly tells everyone to calm down and has Izninatilia contacted the police. While waiting for the police to arrive, the manager instructs the teenagers to move to another table away from the counter while you are calming Izninatilia down.
"This early morning and the police have to come running," the manager starts. "They must have the toughest job in the world." Looking at the two boys and the girl who are now sitting at the far-end table, still playing their online mobile games without a worry, he continues, "Kids nowadays, they are in their own fantasies. Not bothering that they can end up in jail or prison for committing theft!"
